Can I record system audio?

Yes, but with browser limits. In Chrome or Edge, choose "Share a tab" in the picker and enable "Share tab audio". System-wide audio capture is not available in Firefox or Safari.

What file format is produced?

WebM by default (VP9 or VP8 codec, Opus audio). Some browsers also support MP4. You can pick a specific codec in the options — the dropdown only shows formats your browser actually supports.
